PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
SPINA BIFIDA
This birth defect is where the brain, spinal cord, and meninges don't
develop properly. This causes some of the spinal cord and nerves to be exposed,
and in some cases it means the child will be paralyzed.

TREATMENT
There is no cure for this spina bifida
However, there is a surgery that puts the meninges back in place
and closes the opening in the vertebrae. But this surgery is the safest
within the first 2 days of life.
When the child is older, exercise keeps their bones from becoming brittle.
