Spirochaete

  • They are corkscrew shaped
  • Spirochaetes are between 5 and 250 micrometers long
  • They are free-living, which means they make their own food.

Escherichia coli

  • Most strains are harmless
  • Dangerous kind can cause of food poisoning
  • Live in the intestines of warm blooded animals

  • Cocci are any round shaped bacteria
  • Their cells group together and every formation has a different name
  • Strep throat is a form of cocci infection

Amoebas

  • Amoebas are animal-like
  • They move around with a false foot
  • Amoebas can change shape

Algae

  • Algae are plant-like
  • They can be as long as 50 meters
  • Algae are eukaryotic, which means they have a nucleus

slime mold

  • Slime mold is fungi like
  • There are over 900 different species of slime mold
  • Slime mold can be different colors

  • Mold can grow on rotting food or organisms
  • Mold can be fuzzy to the touch
  • Mold can be many different colors

YEast

  • Yeasts are used to make bread
  • You can't see yeasts with your naked eye, you need a microscope
  • Yeasts make up 1% of all fungi

  • Fire ant colonies have a queen that can live 6 to 7 years!
  • Fire ants have a head, a thorax, an abdomen and legs
  • Fire ants can be up to 6mm

Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias)

  • Average Great white sharks are 17 feet long and can weigh over a ton
  • Great whites eat other sharks, dolphins, seals and birds as well as fish
  • Scientists know almost nothing about how they reproduce
