The only one who knew Lil's part is Doug. So Doug makes a deal with Mrs.Windemere. The only way Doug would play Helen burns is if Mrs. Windemere gives him the red throated divers to put back in the book at the library. He didn't want to play Lil's part because Joe Peppitone was in the audience.

Doug was totally tubular! After the play, Joe Peppitone came up the Doug and asked Doug for his autograph.

After every one left (including Joe Peppitone) Mr.Spicer drove Doug to the hospital to see Lil.
