Sport Hunting

By Becca Latterner, Period 1

Why Are People Against It?

  • Hunting is nothing more  than a violent form of recreation.
  • Hunting is permitted in many wildlife refuges and national forests.
  • Almost 40% of hunters slaughter/ kill many animals a year
  • Hunting disrupts migration and hibernation patterns, destroys animal homes.
  • Hunting introduces exotic "game" who pose a threat  to established wildlife

Why Are People For It?

  • Sport hunters- hunters that kill game for no real reason, just as prize.
  • Some people love to eat the animal meat retrieved from hunting.
  • People want to "re-wild" their hearts, or reconnect to nature.
  • The trophy reason- it is an exhibitionist effort to display prowess status.
  • Trophy antlers on the wall help hunters keep something important there.

Why Are People For It?

  • Animals will overpopulate, causing them to intersect with daily human lives
  • Companionship between hunter and dog, father, or even son or daughter.

My Position on the Issue

  • Hunting is very needed yes, but can also be very cruel.
  • Using hunted animals as resources like food and clothing is acceptable.
  • Unecissary hunting should not be allowed, it should even be illegal!
  • I think only experienced, worthy hunters should be allowed in animal
  • territory.

My Position on the Issue

  • What would happen if a careless hunter was in YOUR backyard and
  • accidentally hurt your family or home? It wouldn't be accepted!
  • We could easily kill off rare and endangered species if we don't have
  • precautions.
  • I think only necessary hunting should be permitted.
