Spousal abuse:
as the victimization of an individual resulting from abuse, attacks, or assault undertaken by their respective partners within the realm of a married relationship

Examples of spousal abuse:

  • Getting kicked
  • Getting punched
  • Getting thrown on the floor
  • Getting slapped
  • Getting threaten

Consequences:

  • Number of criminal charges
  • Jail or prison sentence
  • Monetary fines
  • Assaultive offense
  • Probation ranging from six months to two years

Statistics:
-1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime.
- Women experience more than 4 million physical assaults and rapes because of their partners, and men are victims of nearly 3 million physical assaults.

IMPORTANT IMFORMATION:

  • Call a womens shelter or domestic violence hotline for advice
  • Pack an emergency bag that includes items you'll need when you leave
  • Know exactly where you'll go and how you will get there
  • An abuser can use technology to monitor your telephone and track your location
  • Your abuser might intercept call's and listen to your conversations
