BIOTIC FACTORS

ABIOTIC FACTORS

  • The savanna has a wet and dry season
  • The wet season is when the Springboks breed and graze
  • The dry season is a harsh time for all animals in the savanna. Many die and it forces Springboks to migrate to find water sources.

MATING

  • Springboks generally mate in the dry season and lactate in the wet season
  • Springboks generally consist of mostly female herds with few dominant males
  • This can be described as a polygamous mating behavior
