Springtime Poem

Yvonne Tirakian and Rachel Kanapsky

Morning dew drops cover delicate flowers
Drinking in light from the sun
In the early daytime hours.

Warm wind whistles through trees
And they sway side to side
With the buzzing of the bees.

New life blossoms and blooms
Beginning to grow
Eradicating winter's gloom.

A steady drizzle turns violent and frightening
With horrible booms of thunder
And terrifying strikes of lightning.

Frozen creeks melt into flowing streams
Reptiles and amphibians awaken
From their hibernating dreams.

A mother bear stirs from her prolonged sleep
Her cubs are there beside her
They do not make a peep.

Birds fly north to their places of summer retreat
Their nests instantly in the making
As their wings soak in the newfound heat.

The cycle of life is constantly turning
And springtime
Is for what we are always yearning.
