SERFS

LIFESTYLE

  • Serfs worked on the lords land in return for letting them live on it
  • Serfs had to make certain payments to the lord
  • In order for serfs to work the lords mill they hade to pay him.

HOUSE/DWELLING

  • Serfs houses were cold and damp.
  • They would take the animals that they owned inside the house so they didn't get stolen
  • The serfs had to share one bed most of the time

MEDIEVAL SERFS CLOTHING

  • Serfs wore shoes or large boots
  • Serfs usually had a bareheaded but when it was cold they wore woolen hats
  • Serfs wore a thick overcoat that was woolen

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

  • Scythe
  • Axe
  • Rake
  • Sickle
  • Sheers

PLACE OF WORK

  • Serfs were generally peasant farmers
  • Serfs worked in taverns and worked to pay dues to The Lord.
  • The serfs would work in the farm around 3 times a week

FOOD

  • Serfs ate barley they would eat the near by fruits
  • Serfs also ate Bread made of barley
  • Serfs drank a lot of beer

FAMILY LIFE

  • Serfs got up early in the morning
  • The hole family of serfs worked in the farm.
  • The males worked in the fields most of the time

SERFS ROLE IN THE MEDICAL HIERARCHY

  • Serfs were at the bottom of the hierarchy
  • Serts had to work in return for being allowed to life on the lords land
  • They were not allowed to leave the land unless they were told they could by The Lord or a noble
