HISTORY
Maryland was founded by catholic colonists under the leader of Calvery in 1634
It was settled at St.Clements island, west to the Chesapeake Bay in 1634
Maryland was founded so Catholics could practice there religion in peace
Also it was for a refuge for Catholics who were persecuted in England.

GEOGRAPHY/ LOCATION
Maryland is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east.
Pennsylvania to the north.
Virginia to the south.
It is also known as the Appalachian region

GEOGRAPHY/PLACE
There biggest city was St.Mary's City it was most popular.
Almost 200 people were living there but it grew as the assembly met.
It also grew when families came when in search of food and lodging.
In St.Mary's City nearly every building regulated by law was to serve as a bar.
Also to serve as a motel or a restaurant at some point.

GEOGRAPHY/HUMAN INTERACTION
Some human interactions with the earth are lodging.
Also fishing, farming, and pottering.
They also did a lot of growing crops and gardening.

People would move around to other places by foot
Also they would move by boat, or wheeled vehicle
Whatever was the least expensive to get from one place to another.

GEOGRAPHY/REGION
Maryland is in the north east region.

ECONOMY
Maryland's major jobs were mostly farming.
Maryland' major export was tobacco.
Wheat and corn is also major exports for Maryland.
Maryland's first industry was agriculture.
A shipbuilding industry occurred in the eighteen and nineteenth century.

ECONOMY/NATIVES
The first Indians were the Yaocomico Indians.
They would let the colonists live in their houses called witchotts.
The colonists would give the Indians clothes and farming tools for land
The Indians would tp also teach the colonists how to grow crops

GOVERNMENT
Maryland had a proprietary government
Which means that a lord owns the land and colonists can use it.
All Christian religions could vote and non-white males could not.
Maryland declared war on the Yaocomico Indians in 1642.
But Maryland was defeated in 1644.

GOVERNMENT
There was a lot of hatred until a peace treaty was made in 1652.
