The Sulu Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed three Indonesian hostages of terror group Abu Sayyaf (ASG) have been released early Sunday, in two separate places in Luuk municipality, Sulu province.
The three were identified by the police as Lorence Koten, Theo Doros Kofong, and Emanuel Arakian. According to some reports, they were released after paying P20 million in ransom.
"What we do know is that we have been concentrating on the launch of all our operations and all our activities on the ground have been indicative of the increasing pressure felt by these groups," The Armed Forces of The Philippines (AFP) Spokesperson Padilla said.
Padilla added that the "military operations" had a "great impact" on the release of the hostages. Padilla also lauded the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) for helping in the transfer of the kidnap victims to the government.
The Indonesian kidnap victims arrived at the Western Mindanao Command at around 4:45pm the same day.
As a Lasallian, I can be confident to tell people about this situation and tell it to the proper authorities when somebody is doing something bad or similar to what these members of Abu Sayyaf did.
