WHO WAS SAINT CONRAD?

• Saint Conrad Constance was a German Bishop who was born into a German aristocratic family.When he grew up,He went to Constance,in modern day Switzerland,where he eventually became a Bishop

WHY IS HE A SAINT

• Saint Conrad made three pilgrimages to the holy land,which was a very big deal in the tenth century.
• He renovated churches in his diocese with his inherited money,and built three more on the land he Inherited.

THE SPIDER IN THE CHALICE

• There is a legend that says that when Conrad was saying mass,A spider fell into the chalice of wine.

At the time,people thought all spiders were poisonous.But Conrad's love for the Eucharist was greater than his fear.He drank the wine,including eating the spider.
