LIFE WORKS

  • Witness to the Resurrection of Christ, he fasted from Good Friday through Easter
  • 1st Bishop of Jerusalem
  • Integrated Jewish and Pagan people
  • One of the first Apostles
  • He stood with Mary Magdalene at the Crucifixion (found in Mark)

CHARACTERISITCS

  • Sometimes called "Brother of the Lord" and was a cousin of Jesus
  • He wrote an Epistle that is named after him and is described as a Jew familiar with the Old Testament, and a Christian thoroughly grounded in the teachings of the Gospel
  • Patron saint of pharmacists and fullers
  • His fest day is May 3
  • He is known as the "less" because James the Greater was older and taller

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

  • "After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. DEATH

  • ... threw down the just man... [and] began to stone him: for he was not killed by the fall; but he turned, and kneeled down, and said: "I beseech thee, Lord God our Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."
