We know Joseph loved Jesus. His one concern was for the safety of this child entrusted to him.When Jesus stayed in the Temple we are told Joseph (along with Mary) searched with great anxiety for three days for him.

Josephs death:
Since Joseph does not appear when jesus was a leader, performed most of his miracles, at his death, or resurrection, many historians believe Joseph probably had died before Jesus entered public ministry in Nazareth sometime in 18 A.D.

The reason I chose St. Joseph is because just like Jesus' father, I have a special relationship with my dad that's much more than a father's relationship, but much closer than that.
