EARLY LIFE

  • Saint Thomas was born in Roccasecca, Italy, in the year 1225.
  • He began early schooling at age 5 at the Monte Casino.
  • He then went to a university, where he was introduced to his philosophical influences, Aristotle, Averroes, and Maimonides.

At his university, he met John of St. Julian, a Dominican preacher, who convinced him to join the Dominican order.

In 1252, he traveled to Paris to get his masters degree in theology. Then, he started teaching bible verses to his classes and wrote books.
