DILATION

  • Uterus controls and causes the cervix to dilate or open up

  • Membranes surround baby which causes the water to break
  • Aminate fluid surrounding the baby releases out if the vigina

  • The babies head begins to push out adter the water breaks

  • This stage ends when the cervix is fully dialted to 10 centimeters

EXPLUSION

  • Babies head emerges fully and the shoulders rotate
  • An episotomy may occur (surgical incisin to make room)
  • Ends with childbirth

PLACENTAL

  • Starts after delievery of baby
  • Ends when the uterus exples the placenta & the umbilical cordout of mothers body
