CAUSES OF THE STAMP ACT

• Colonists had to pay taxes for anything printed after the war.
• They were forced to pay from laws made by the government .
• The colonist responded in outrage, they had serious jury trials.
• Their protest was called "Taxation without representation"

Some of the colonists tried to scare off the tax collectors, at times even attacking them and their homes.
