Drought: not having enough water.

SEVERE FAMINE

  • Areas: Chad, Ethiopia, & Mozambique.
  • 10 million Chinese people have died because of famine.
  • Weather is a big part of famine because if the weather is bad then the crops won't be successful, which means less food to feed everyone else.

FAMINE

  • Caused by several factors such as crop failure, unbalanced population, and government policies.
  • Nearly every continent has experienced a period of famine throughout history.
  • Famine is usually followed by malnutrition, starvation, epidemic, and increased mortality.

FAMINE PREVENTION

  • Investments in modern agriculture techniques such as fertilizers and irrigation.
  • A lot of places have food, just not in the immediate food deficient areas.
  • Even if there is food, prices are high making it harder for people to afford it.
  • Other country's are trying to bring modern techniques to Asia, which has resulted in decreased malnutrition.
  • If we build roads in Africa it will help people get resources and seeds to people.

DROUGHT

  • Droughts can cause many things to happen such as bad crops, less water, and dry land.
  • If there is bad crops then there is less food, which means famine spreads.
  • Droughts can't exactly be stopped because it's something we can't necessarily control.
  • Droughts can happen almost anywhere.

WHAT CAUSES PEOPLE TO DIE AND BE BORN?

  • People die from diseases, starvation, dehydration, wars, crime, old age, drugs, accidents and many other things.
  • Some places don't have birth control which can lead to over population and famine because there is more people that need to be fed.
  • People are dying and being born all the time, some places are growing and will double in population in 30 years even.
