History of Standardized tests

• First standardized tests started in ancient China  
• By World War I standardized testing was a standard practice
• Grading was done manually until 1936; the IBM 805 was created
• SAT was created in 1926 and the ACT in 1959
• Standardized tests have become very popular last 100 years

The Thoughts of Experts

Kira Zalan

• An Editor for US News Weekly
• Is against standardized testing
• Believes there should be multiple testing methods

Colette Kimberling

• A Teacher in the Philadelphia School District
• Believes ST-ing is a good and fair testing method
• Thinks ST-ing motivates teachers to work harder.
• Thinks GPA isnt enough to determine a students level 

James Popham

• Professor at the University of California
• "Its a shame that ST-ing determines schools level"
•  "Using ST-ing to measure knowledge is like using a spoon to measure Temperature    
• Scores don't provide an accurate estimation of  educational effectivness 

Scott Barry

• Student scores Can tell us about the schools level
• Student scores can tell government about schools
• If students have poor scores so it reflects teachers work
• Students can sit in class paying attention all day but not learn
• Only ST-ing can determine what a student has learned 

Kyle Redford

• Study proves that GPA is better predictor of college success 
• Believes that ST should be "Dethroned"
• Some students take longer than others to process information 
• The most important thing is that every student understands in the end
• ST-ing isnt fair for people with disabilties

JAmes Popham & Scott Bary

• James Popham and Scott Barry had good points
• However, I believe ST-ing should be more specific
• EX: An Art  student shouldn't go through SAT Math
• I still think ST-ing is still a fast and effective system of testing 

Zira Zalan

• I do not agree with Zira about getting rid of ST 
• But, I agree with different teaching methods 
• I also think learning styles should be more flexible
• Learning styles should suit students styles 

Kyle redford

• I agree with many of his points
• I believe GPA is a better predictor of university success 
• Agree with her argument about people with disabilities 

My Opinion

• Each student has thier own learning style
• ST's should be more specific
• I think ST-ing is good because it is fast and efficient 
• ST-ing should target specific subjects and learning groups
• This topic need to be researched and be studied more
