• Starbucks was founded on March 30, 1971
• The first starbucks was made in SeattIe Washington
• It was founded by Jerry Baldwin, Zed Siegl, and Gordon Bowker

STARBUCKS SALES AND EXPANSION

• In 1998 Starbucks officially entered the UK
• In 2003 Starbucks purchased Seattles Best Coffee for $72 Million
• In 2008 Starbucks created a loyalty progtam which gives members bonuses
• These bonuses include free wifi and no charge on certain items

• Starbucks is commonly known for its coffee
• Starbucks also serves tea and smoothies
• Starbucks also serves food

• In 2008 Starbucks had to close over 600 starbucks that were not profitable
• They also had to open up 200 stores less than they expected

STARBUCKS LOGO

• In 2006 Valerie O'Neal said the logo was inspired by a Siren a twin tailed mermaid in Greek mythology
• This logo has gone through three designs, the first ine was brown but in 1992 it got the famous redesign in the Background
• This has been used as a secondary design and the new design just has the text on the outside removed

PARTNERSHIPS

• In 1998 Starbucks partnered with Kraft Food, this partnership failed and starbucks had to pay kraft $2.8 billion
• In 2006 Starbucks partnered with Apple. Starbucks Added Starbucks Entertainment to the Itunes Store
• There was also a feature where people could browse the internet without joining the wifi network.
• They also Partnered MSNBC for a program called Morning Joe which advertised Starbucks coffee as that is what they drank for coffee on the show

ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT

• In 1999 Starbucks started a program called Grounds for your Garden, which gives leftover Coffee grounds to whoever requests it for composting
• In 2004 Starbucks also made their napkins smaller and reduced their solid waste productin by 1,800,000 pounds
• In 2004 Starbucks started using 10% of recycled paper in their beverage cups

• Currently, Starbucks is in 64 countries worldwide

HEAR MUSIC

• Hear music started put as a catalog company in 1990, in 1999 the company was purchased by Starbucks
• In 2006 they created Starbucks entertainment

"FUN" FACTS

• In December 2010 Starbucks launched their first starbucks on sea on the Royal Carribean's second biggest Ship
• In the 2010 Starbucks reached an agreement with the Southern Sun Hotels and Tsonga Hotels to serve coffee
• In south Africa, the agreement was made just in time for the Fifa World Cup
