GROWING TREND

IB increasing in popularity
IB is experiencing exceptional growth worldwide as well as right here in Ontario.
Growth is based on increasing recognition of the benefits for students who accept the challenge of IB.

CANADA & IB

It's kinda a thing here
Canada has more IB per capita than any other country. It also attracts more IB than an other school with UBC and U of T being the top IB receiving schools. Canada has 4/5 top receiving universities.

Fastest growing enriched education program worldwide.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Attracts students who work hard and enjoy learning.
Effort and ability to perform on exams are strongly correlated with success
Can accommodate students with LD but not to the same extent.

Unique learning environment of motivated peers
Assuming the smartest kids can achieve their full potential without being pushed is misguided
Gifted kids who skip a grade are 60% more likely to earn patents and doctorates and twice as likely to earn a stem doctorate
Our best evidence is that we should never stop supporting them with harder work and ensure they are stimulated
They are the children who change our world

Helps students learn effective use of time in high school
Learn to study, problem solve
UBC research says that IB students have a stronger work ethic and do better at first year,
Partly because they have figured this out,
Partly they know how to meet uni expectations,
Made their mistakes in high school where the support and timelines are greater

BENEFITS

  • Better writing skills
  • Better exam results
  • Better problem solvers
  • Better time managers

According to UBC, who has done a 13 yr study on how IB students perform

Even an so so/average score 27-30 out of 45, is equal to the performance of an 'A' student

One of the key benefits of IB is their ability to persist and succeed at university. IB students have a 98% retention for 1st year vs a 20% dropout rate for non-IB. Canadian data is similar and in fact shows that 95% of IB students graduate on-time. Many universities report their graduation rate based on a 6-8 year timeline.
