PRESENTATION OUTLINE

OPPOSITES ATTRACT

  • Attraction: strive for stability: particles w opposite charge attract
  • Electrons are always moving seeking positive protons
  • Looking for positive proton to be stable
  • Move or travel: around always looking: ignore if all there
  • Attractive force to become a stable atomm

STATIC ELECTRICITY

  • Imbalance of positive and negative charge
  • Excess of negative or excess if positive
  • Static bc electrons are not miving there are built up
  • Clouds pick up pos or neg charge from air or get striped
  • Say it builds up neg charge

Untitled Slide

  • CLoud w negative charge gets close to tree
  • Its going to be attracted to positive charges while repelling neg charge
  • Pushes down the negative charges and pulls up the positive charges
  • Force becomes strong enough that the electrons jump from the cloud
  • This is a lighting strike: electrons moving

STATIC SHOCK

  • Shock you get when you become staticky charged
  • And touch something metal
  • You have a doorknob w no charge, walk to rubbing feet
  • Feet are building up a negative charge building up electrons
  • Colkects on body: Doorknob pushes away neg and strives pos: attracting

Untitled Slide

  • If you touch that surface again you dont get another shock
  • Touch charge becomes stable: match and beccome netural
  • Conductors: Mive easily inside: pastic/ wooden no shock- insulators
  • Metal w conduct and can easily move w in for static to jump

ELECTROMOTOR FORCE

  • Battery and generator
  • Battery: must have:
  • Generator lights up battery
  • Swuch direction of current
