STATIONS OF THE CROSS

BY: ARIELA GASPAR

WOMAN ANOINTS JESUS' HEAD

.

When the woman anoints Jesus' head, it shows that God and Jesus the man are both worthy of being honored with the best offerings. This event tells the readers that humanity has a heart to serve others, and that although the world is filled with darkness, there are still good people.

JESUS SHARES HIS BODY AND BLOOD

.

When Jesus and the disciples share The Last Supper, Jesus shares his body and blood with them. This shows that Jesus the man was a kind and compassionate savior who would sacrifice himself for humanity. This event shows that humanity needs Jesus to be a sacrifice for them because their debt to God was too big for anyone else to pay. This event also shows how the world is full of sin that needs to be forgiven by God.

JESUS IS ARRESTED

.

This event shows us that God loved us so much, that he let his only son be handed over to his death. The arrest shows that Jesus was willing to be sacrificed, and during his arrest, he heals a soldiers ear whom one of his disciples cut off. Even during such unfair times, Jesus was a healing savior and offered his help. This event shows that the world is filled with humans who are prideful. At times our emotions get the better of us and we don't always do what God wants us to do.

CAIAPHAS TORE HIS ROBES

When Caiaphas tears his robes, he does it out of anger and frustration because Jesus would not confess to being "guilty." This passage shows that Jesus the man ever committed any sins or done any wrong, He was a pure human. This event also shows that humanity can be selfish and become frustrated, with God, when things don't go our way. Therefore, the world is filled with selfish people who blame others for their problems.

PILATE'S WIFE HAS A DREAM

Pilate's wife dreams of Jesus before he is crucified. This shows that God communicates with his children on earth through dreams. This event also shows that humanity is capable of being given signs by God. Since her dream had Jesus suffering, the readers are able to know that Jesus can suffer just like the other humans.

PILATE WASHES HIS HANDS

After the people chant that they want Jesus to be put to death, Pilate washes his hands to say that Jesus' blood is not his fault. This shows that humanity never wants to admit to their wrongs, but find a way out of accepting their faults. This also shows that the world is filled with people who want to be perceived as being perfect or faultless. This event shows that Jesus was in fact faultless because if he did commit a crime, then Pilate wouldn't have washed his hands, because he wasn't shedding innocent blood.

JESUS IS MOCKED

When Jesus is mocked by the soldiers, it shows that he was a humble servant, to his father, God, and loving because he took the fault for us. This event shows the bad side of humanity and the evil that we are capable of. This shows how cruel the world is.

VEIL IS TORN

When Jesus died, the veil in the temple was torn. This showed that God was not closed off or in just one place, but omnipresent among us. The veil was torn because Jesus held the power to open the gates of heaven and release God into the world. This event shows how desperately humanity needs of God's presence in our daily lives.

EARTHQUAKE AND SPLIT ROCKS

When the Jesus finally does on the cross, God let there be an earthquake and made rocks split on half. This shows how great God's power is; he has the power on all of heaven and earth. This also shows the power of Jesus' death, it released all of God's wrath. This event also showed that humanity is in the hands of God.

THE TOMB IS EMPTY

When people arrive at the tomb and see that Jesus is not in it, they become afraid. This shows that humanity is full of doubt and worry, therefore the world is a doubtful place. But in actuality, God raised Jesus up from the dead, which shows how great His power is. The tomb being empty also shows Jesus' power to conquer death and the grave.
