  • Farming allowed the nomadic people to settle in one place and still get a dependable food source
  • Food became abundant, communities grew
  • Farming encouraged people to not take what nature provided but to help nature provide
  • People that farmed didn't have to travel to gather resources

Cities

  • When farmlands produced more food than they needed people stopped farming and developed other skills
  • These skills brought brought people together, forming villages
  • These villages grew into towns, which grew into cities
  • Skills included: blacksmiths, lumberjacks, traders, architects and butchers

Cities brought humans together, teaching them to work together to achieve better things. In cities people lived closely so they could protect one and another.

How did this affect their lives

  • Cities created opportunities for people to have jobs
  • Nomadic people could now settle in organized communities
  • These communities encountered other communities through trade or warfare
  • Cities provided people with their basic needs
