Memorable Story

At 30 years old, Saint Ignatius was an officer in the Spanish army. He was was hit in the leg by a cannonball and injured. He asked around for books about chivalry, but couldn’t find any at the family castle. He found a book about the life of Christ and the saints, and enjoyed it. He dreamed of being a hero and doing good deeds. He traveled a lot and realized that God was in the lives of the people of the world. This is how he started on his way to becoming a Saint.

WHAT I ADMIRE ABOUT SAINT IGNATIUS

I admire that when Saint Ignatius was injured in battle, he did not give up on his life. He got better and found the text about God. He worked hard and eventually became a Saint.

A QUESTION FOR THE SAINT

DID YOU THINK YOU WERE GOING TO DIE WHEN YOU WERE HIT BY THE CANNONBALL? WAS IT HARD TO LEARN LATIN FROM THE CHILDREN?
