Story elements are the parts that make a story.

The TITLE is the name of the story.

The TITLE is the name of the story.

The AUTHOR writes the story.

The AUTHOR is the writer of the story. The author may use a paper and pen, a typewriter, or a computer to write the story.

The ILLUSTRATOR draws the pictures.

The ILLUSTRATOR draws the pictures for a story. The pictures could be bright and colorful, or they could be black and white. The ILLUSTRATOR helps us to visualize the story.

The CHARACTERS are the people or animals in the story.

The CHARACTERS are the people in the story. Sometimes, characters are animals too, or fictional creatures.

The SETTING is when the story happens.

The SETTING is when the story happens. The SETTING could be a season, a time of year, a day, or in the morning.

The SETTING is where the story happens.

The SETTING is also where the story happens. The SETTING could be at home, in the community, or in a far away land.

The PLOT is the events in the story.

The PLOT is the events of the story. The PLOT has a beginning, a middle and an end. The plot is the action of the story.

The PROBLEM is an event that goes wrong.

The PROBLEM is an event that goes wrong in the story, or a challenge that a character experiences.

The SOLUTION is how the problem is solved.

The SOLUTION is how the problem is solved. The characters find a way to fix, or solve, the problem.
