What Is Successful Technology Integration?

When technology integration is at its best, a child or a teacher doesn't stop to think that he or she is using a technology tool -- it is second nature. And students are often more actively engaged in projects when technology tools are a seamless part of the learning process.

successful Technology Integration is...

  • Routine and transparent
  • Accessible and readily available
  • Supports curricular goals
  • Helps students achieve those goals

But avoid "Tech for Tech's sake"

make it meaningful...Make it Count
- use to videos to generate conversation or summarize key concepts
- to AID the learning process
- consider what may be sacrificed or enhanced when selecting
- what message is being sent to students

What Count$ for Students?

  • Creativity and Innovation
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Research and Information Fluency
  • Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision-Making
  • Digital Citizenship

What count$ for Teachers?

  • Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
  • Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experience
  • Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
  • Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
  • Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
- explore real-world issues and solve authentic problems
- incorporate digital tools as appropriate for research, and discussion; individuality and differentiation
- Use tools like Twitter/Pinterest to access more resources and ideas; use online databases to locate, analyze, evaluate and use information
- remind students of proper netiquette and internet safety to protect their images and their stuff
- participate in an webinar for PD; evaluate the effectiveness of technology in education
