THE INSTRUMENTS OF THE STRING FAMILY

  • Violin
  • Cello
  • Harp
  • Viola
  • String bass

THE VIOLIN

  • Many kids start to learn how to play the violin
  • If you play it young you will get used to stretch your fingers
  • It sits next to the viola in the orchestra
  • It belongs in the family because it has strings

CELLO

  • It is pronounced chello
  • It has 4 traditional strings
  • It sits next to the viola in the orchestra
  • It belongs in the family because it has strings

HARPS

  • The curved instrument with 47 strings
  • It is one of the wolds most ancient & universal instrument
  • It belongs in the family because it has strings

VIOLA

  • It has the same strings as the cello
  • It usually sits between the cellos & the violins in the orchestra
  • It belongs in the family because it has strings

STRING BASS

  • It is the largest member of the string group
  • It was described in early 1566
  • It belongs in the family because it has strings

THE STRING FAMILY...

  • Makes music by the strings and the bow vibrate when playing the instrument
  • They all have strings
  • They all have the same shape (except for the Harp)

WHERE DO THEY SIT IN THE ORCHESTRA
