Structured Learning Experiences (SLE)

Purpose

  • The program will be structured to prepare students, with special needs, for the transition from high school into the workforce.

Project Objectives

  • For students to identify and demonstrate positive work behaviors.
  • Act as a responsible and contributing citizen and "employee".
  • To develop meaningful and realistic student goals

Project Scope

  • Four Service Learning students will work at Bayada Home Health Care for 3 days a week (Mon., Wed., and Fri.) from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Students will receive class credit from PHS
  • Transportation by PHS

Project Scope (cont.)

  • Task driven jobs that are to be determined through the partnership.
  • Students will be accompanied and supervised by a Pennsauken teacher.
  • Students will be expected to develop their Career Readiness Skills.

Timescale

  • We are requesting to begin the program on Monday, November 5th. The program will run for the duration of the school year, with students only being available on days when school is in session.

Expectations from Bayada

  • 3 days a week
  • One hour a day (11:15-12:15)
  • Supply of task oriented work

Goals

  • Greater engagement in community
  • Positive emotional outcomes
  • The opportunity to meet personal challenges
  • Self-determination
  • Realistic post-secondary plans
