Orientation Week

  • See the schedule
  • Attention: ISTEC students + students who choose courses from the 3rd semester
  • Two evening meet ups, city rally, German classes Level 2 and 3, Guided tour "Street Art in Kreuzberg", schedule checks

City Rally tomorrow

  • Get to know Berlin and your fellow students
  • Each group discovers a different part of the city. Make a photo presentation of 5 minutes and convince the jury on Wednesday!
  • Meeting Point: tomorrow at EBC
  • Speak only a language that everyone in the group understands!

Registration as a Student

  • To be able to register you as students, we need sufficient proof of your health insurance.
  • Public Health Insurance TK on Campus today at 15 o´clock - check with us if you need to attend

Registration as a Berliner

  • We can do it for you if you hand in:
  • completed form "Anmeldung"
  • copy of ID or passport
  • confirmation from your landlord, "Wohnungsgeberbestätigung"
  • deadline: Friday 28th September
  • if you need it quickly: better to do it by yourself

Residence Permit

  • If you are not an EU Citizen and your Visa is not valid for the whole duration of your stay: pass by to see us if you need help with the residence permit application

Berlin's public transport

  • RE, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Bus, Ferries
  • week days: 4.30 - 0.30
  • night-line system with buses and tram
  • 24h service on weekends
  • Always have a ticket => 60€ fine
  • Check www.bvg.de
  • Apps: Öffi, BVG

Public Transport Ticket

  • Student Semester ticket valid 6 months from 1.10., tarif zones ABC, 193,80 EUR
  • How to pay the Semester ticket: see handout
  • Reduced monthly ticket: 57 EUR / month for zones AB - you will need a portrait photo and a confirmation letter from the International Office

WiFi on campus

  • mainly for academic use
  • private use possible within limits - please just one device!
  • please respect copyrights
  • unacceptable are websites with racist, pornografic, or any content that violates the constitution

Entering the "Virtual Campus"

  • Schedule, course material, other participants of the courses, grades
  • Your profile (address, phone etc.)
  • Contact your teachers
  • Enter at bottom of German or English website www.ebc-hochschule.de
  • First time: click "forgot my password"

Your courses

  • If you choose courses from different programmes, there might be clashes in your schedule
  • We´ll organize a one-to-one discussion with those of you who choose courses from different programmes to check the schedule and make changes if needed
  • You might change courses in the beginning of the semester only

Class and Examination Rules

  • To pass your courses sucessfully, you need to follow the class & examination rules

Class rules

  • Attendance is mandatory! You can´t miss more than 3 sessions per course (à 90 min).
  • Don´t be late! More than 15 minutes late will be counted as absence

Examination rules

  • The examination dates will be published at the latest two weeks before the examination - a list in the 4th floor
  • Use your German matriculation number in the examination (you can find it on your student card)

  • If you miss an exam and cannot provide a doctor´s note, it will be counted as failed
  • The re-exams will usually take place in the following semester. There cannot be made any exceptions.

EBC student card

  • your door opener
  • your copy card
  • your identification as a student
  • your public transport ticket
  • important: matriculation number!
  • if you lose your card: let us know immediately! A new card costs 20 EUR

Copying and printing

  • Black&white: 4 cents, colour 80 cents
  • Located in room 4.12
  • You need to save the document on an USB stick as a PDF
  • Alternative: Many copy shops in the neighbourhood
  • If you want to copy at EBC, you can charge some money on your Student Card in the Study Office, 5th floor
