SUB SAHARAN AFRICA

LANGUAGE

  • Varies from different groups
  • Places like Niger-Congo area speak languages such as Igbo, Yoruba and Fulani

GOVERNMENT

  • The government varies from Republic of Kenya to the Federal Republic Democratic of Ethiopia
  • Over 70% of people in the region lack basic civil liberties and human rights
  • Africa also has chiefs of their villages who keep things in order.

RELIGIONS

  • Largely Christian however they are Muslim majorities in the region as we'll
  • The diversity in religions causes conflict throughout the region.

URBAN/RURAL

  • Most people live in "villages" as their cities and towns.
  • People's houses vary from huts to actual houses depending on your social class

FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS

  • Families vary from big to small but the majority of families are large and tight knit
  • They live close together if not under the same roof
  • Families are usually dependent each other to survive

SOCIAL STRUCTURE/ WEALTH

  • Each different countries have their high class and low class
  • Depending on where you live in the countries the poverty varies
  • For example, the capital of Nigeria, Abuja, is home to the weathly

FASHION/LITERATURE/ART

  • From bright patterns to jeans and a tshirt the fashion in this region varies.
  • When it comes to their traditional clothing it is very distinctive and original.
  • Music in this region is usually fast and upbeat, something to get you on your feet

EDUCATION

  • Children are limited to education due to poverty
  • Families either choose who is getting an education or they don't get an education at all

LAND USE

  • Land is used for farming and livestock.
  • Families share land in different villages
  • Many families live around the area together.

TRADING NETWORKS

  • The Trans Saharan Trade network is the network most of Africa use to trade
  • It's the travel of trade through the Sahara desert to other places throughout Africa

DIVERSITY

  • Many Islamic people live throughout Africa although most live in North Africa, they are the minority group.
  • Woman are the mans second in command. They are looked down on as stereotypical cook for your husband
  • The man is usually in charge of the household.
