PRESENTATION OUTLINE
JOURNEY THROUHG THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
It started in the mouth with the teeth, tongue, and saliva. The mouth breaks down food into smaller pieces and saliva moistens it.
Then it went into the esophagus. Which is hollow muscular tube (throat) and it contracts and sends it into the stomach.
Finally it's down in the stomach. Where it's a hollow muscular pouch. It uses muscles, acids, and other chemicals to break food into smaller pieces.
Then it travels into the small intestine. Where it absorbs nutrients into the blood and chemically digests food.* most digestion occurs here. It's a tube lined with villi.
The liver is a large, heavy triangular shaped organ. Aids in digestion by producing chemicals that break down food.
Finally large intestine. It's a tube that contracts and pushes waste toward the anus. Helps get rid of waste and absorbs water back into the blood.
Finally you've made it!! You're at the anus where it's a muscular opening. The anus allows waste to exit the body.
