PRESENTATION OUTLINE

PIONEER SPECIES

  • Pioneer species are the first species to colonize an area where succession
  • occured.
  • This is moss growing on the bare rock.
  • You can tell that primary succession occurred here because of the bare rock.
  • The climax community has not grown completely here yet.

PIONEER SPECIES #2

  • There is long grass that grew first before all the trees.
  • You can tell this is secondary succession because it started with soil and there is no lichens and mosses.
  • You can tell the climax community has developed here , there are trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plants.

PIONEER SPECIES #3

  • There are some rock but you can tell this is not secondary
  • succession because of all the soil under the rocks and around them.
  • The pioneer spiecies here are the shrubs around the rocks.
  • The climax community hasn't completely developed here but it has partially.

PIONEER SPIECIES #4

  • The pioneer species here is the cat tails and other plants growing around the water.
  • This is secondary succession.
  • Also here the climax community has partially grown.

CLIMAX COMMUNITY

  • This is when a area where succession occurred has almost completely recovered
  • and has a variety of plants grown.
