Location, Time and Date:
Location- Indonesia, the island of Nias and Sumatura
Date- March 28, 2005
Time- 16:09:36 (4:09:36 pm for people who don't know how to tell military time)

THE EARTHQUAKE ITSELF:
This earthquake lasted about two minutes, causing much destruction in that amount of time because of it's 8.6 magnitude. Exactly 24 hours later 8 aftershocks occurred, ranging anywhere from 5.5-6.0 on the Richter scale. The Mercalli Intensity was a 12 because of how high the magnitude of this earthquake was.

TSUNAMI:
The tsunami produced by this earthquake was much smaller than expected, with a wave height of 3 meters. The tsunami hit soon after the quake because of how close the fault is to the island of Sumatura.

TECTONIC SETTING:
PLATES INVOLVED WITH QUAKE- Eurasian plate and the Indo-Australian plate.
TYPE OF BOUNDRY- Convergent.
The Indo-Australian plate slides under the Eurasian plate.

DESTRUCTION:
Life toll- 1346
Damages- Wide spread power outages, many collapsing buildings, cracked streets, demolished houses.
Damage cost- Unfortunately No damage price was listed.
