It is the oldest civilization known today. It was located in far south present day Iraq.
The first city they ever built was called Uruk.
The oldest we know is the Epic of Gilgamesh and it was written by the Sumerians.

REDISCOVERING THE SUMERIANS
Once the Sumerian civilization was extinct it was rediscovered by the Romans and Persians.
But it was abandoned in the fourth century AD.
It was rediscovered by German archeologists in the early 20th century.
It now has a lot of mounds which are the remains of buildings.
The mounds would cover most of the Sumerians civilization.

SUMERIAN BUILDINGS
The Sumerians built most of their buildings out of mud brick and fire brick.
They mostly built building that were made of mud and huge staircases they called them ziggurats.
Each city-state would build its own ziggurat.
They would use the ziggurats to worship gods and wish for them to see how good their city-state is.
At the top of ziggurats would be a temple for Mesopotamia gods.

RESSURECTION OF THE SUMERIANS
They have not fully excavated all of the Sumerians land.
It seems some of the secrets have died with the city.
In their time a ruler commanded to dam the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
They did it to extent the ecologically and environmentally disterous.
Construction has started to dam the Tigris at Ashur.
