Responsibility

In many work cultures “responsibility” has become overly associated with the concept of a burden, enabling behavior, and action to be avoided in almost all situations. There is another definition of responsibility: a duty as a member of a team to help others be successful.
When you take responsibility for another, the vision and mission of a company will be clearer. You are less worried about pre-defined roles and more focused on doing what is necessary to help someone else be integrated in a team effort so everyone can cross the finish line.
When you take responsibility for someone else you will likely learn something new about them – an unknown expertise, a better way to work with them, or an innovative proposal for the larger team. The act of reaching out can open a critical door.
When you take responsibility for someone else you stand out as a leader, which increases your professional options and helps the organization.

Different people has different responsibilities.A policeman is responsible for maintaining public safety and security by enforcing the law. For examples, “Officers patrol the streets in cars, respond to 911 calls, track down criminals, arrest offenders, and direct traffic, among other duties. ”

In the novel, a cop named Bill Hodges takes responsibility from Mr.Mercedes who kills eight people by driving into a huge crowd of people. This insanity keeps on coming as he thinks of more and more ways to kill people, although he doesn't quite follow through on most of his ideas.

Seek justice

We all have a need for justice when we are wronged or when we see others are wronged. When this need is stimulated, we may become very vocal and active, complaining about the perpetrator and seeking to have them punished or otherwise have justice served.

The need for justice increases with the severity of the wrong that is done. Small injustices we may overlook. Major injustices result in us becoming highly emotional and can consume our thinking.

The ways we seek justice everyday

1. Know your passions and commit strategies
IT’S IMPORTANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT A LITTLE COMMITMENT GOES A LONG WAY, BUT A FAILED COMMITMENT OFTEN DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD. LOOK AROUND, PRAY ABOUT IT AND TAKE THE TIME TO REALLY NARROW DOWN THE FIELD IN WHICH YOU DESIRE TO SERVE.

2. Educate yourself
DON’T ASSUME. EVER. LEARN THE REAL NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE YOU ARE SERVING, FROM THE PEOPLE YOU ARE SERVING.

IT’S EASY FOR US TO THINK WE KNOW WHAT’S BEST FOR ANY PARTICULAR GROUP OF PEOPLE, BUT UNLESS WE ASK, WE CAN EASILY BE MISDIRECTED.

3. Be innovative, but do not reinvent the wheel

PARTNER UP WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS, SHARE YOUR IDEAS. OFTEN, NGOS HAVE BEEN DOING THIS WORK FOR MUCH LONGER AND HAVE SEEN WHAT WORKS AND WHAT DOESN’T, BUT DON’T LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU FROM THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX!

4. Do not be afraid to make mistakes.

MORE IMPORTANT, WE ARE NOT CALLED TO SERVE ALONE. PRAY, ASK QUESTIONS AND LOOK FOR WAYS THAT YOU CAN FIND YOUR CALLING, YOUR PLACE IN THE REALM OF SOCIAL JUSTICE, REMINDING YOURSELF THAT FROM TIME TO TIME, YOU TOO WILL NEED TO BE UNBOUND, HEALED AND FREED.
