"A mysterious hunter has predicted that the boy will one day be greater than Alexander the Great, the legendary greek conquerer " (Niane 105). - Once King Maghan Kon Fatta had passed his thrown went to his first wife's, Sassouma, son named Dankaran. She then banishes phish second wife and her son, Sogolon and Djata, from the kingdom.
As Sassouma handed Sogolon the baobab leaves she said "Take them, since your son is unequal to mine" (Niane 106). -What Sassouma means by this quote is that Maghan Sundiata cannot walk yet and her son, Dankaran can.
"Shutup, nothing can ever wash me clean of that insult" (Niane 106). Soglon said to Sundiata as she explained what she was so angry. Sogolon was so upset Because Sundiata could not walk yet and he was 7 years old, she felt ashamed to be his mother.
"Standing in the position of a solider at ease, Soglon Djata supported by his enormous rod, was sweating great beads of sweat" (Niane 107). -After his mothers outburst Sundiata pushes himself with all his might to stand up and then finally walk.
While still a child, Sundiata becomes a great hunter" (Niane 109). -The prophecy that was once predicted becomes true, Sundiata becomes a popular leader who fights battles.
As a an epic hero Sundiate must have legendary strength. As soon as sundiata teaches himself to stand he shows how much extraordinary physical strength he has when, "With all his might Sogolon tore up the tree and put it all his shoulders and went back to his mothers" (Niane 108).
As an epic hero you must be very brave. The hero must be willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of his people or kingdom. Sundiata shows bravery when"He decides to challenge the sorcerer-king and gain control of his rightful kingdom" (Niane 109.)
