What is a hurricane and what causes it? The answer to that question is simple. A hurricane is caused when hot water and freezing water mix in the atmosphere. Then a tropical depression starts. Sandy picked up fuel from the Carribean and the wam waters helped the superstorm keepmoving. A normal hurricane's life is not simple. First, it is a strrm, then a tropical depression, and finally it becomes a hurricane. A hurricane loses power over land. Hurricane Sandy lost its power over the Great Lakes.

Sandy went from left to right around the world. Where did it strike? Well, let's find out. Hurricane Sandy hit Cuba on October 25th and left the residents homeless. Sandy went from the Caribbean to Jamaica and headed north to the Bahamas. The Bahamian people fled their homes and tried to escape, but some failed. Sandy traveled far and caused great destruction.

If you think it was horrible to live in a temporary shelter, then you have to hear about how much damage it caused. It caused about $62 billion of destruction. Hurricane Sandy was he second most expensive since Hurricane Katrina. The greatest damage was done on Cat Island. It also destroyed the only school on Ragged Island. It killed 125 or more Americans and thousands of people were left homeless. Even after the storm
, people were still recovering from injury and homes were still in need of repair.
