PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Noted as one of the most beautiful things in the world, pregnancy can either be a blessing or a night mare. Just depends what situation you are in.
For Alex's in her last year of high school this was the worst thing that could happen. For more then one reason.
Alex's boyfriend the father of the baby had just moved to Alaska This had ended their relationship. The divorce of his parents and the move had stressed him out and Alex didn't want to cause him anymore grief. As a result she did not tell him.
Alex knew she could not do this on her own, but she did want to get threw it. The one problem she was facing was who to tell. She could tell her friends but they did not have the resources to assist her. Alex lived with her father and was not comfortable telling him this. In the end she told a person she knew she could trust; her guidance counsellor. Her counsellor helped by simply talking to her about her options. Alex knew right away abortion was out of the question. In the end the counsellor told her that moving in with her mother would be good plan, also considering she lived close by and didn't have to change schools.
Emontinal Support is something everyone needs when going through a trial.
Alex's mother was very supportive, assured her daughter that everyone makes mistakes. Also saying that they would make it threw the trial together.
Alex told her close friends. To her surprise they were more of a help and a support then she thought. They helped her out by getting her homework and assignments when she was out a doctors appointment.
Alex had recently gotten early acceptance to university. The plan was to attend post secondary in 11 months. She discussed this with her mother and at the end she knew she couldn't be a mom to her a child and go to school full time.
She knew adoption was the best choice. Alex was willing to sacrifice something very big for the better of her child and herslef.
In the end Alex gave up her baby to a loving family with two parents. She then went on to university that fall, being very grateful for all the support.
Alex knew she could not have ended up where she is now with out the support and positive adituded of her friends family and other people in the community.
