Surf safety 101

• Swim between the red and yellow flags
• Always swim in an area where the beach is patrolled by lifesavers
• Don't swim under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Always check the depth of the water before running or diving in
• If you get into trouble, stay calm and float and put your hand up
