SANTA CRUZ

the wind averages about 15-20 mph and offshore winds blow from the northeast
and the forecast is sunnier during the summer and spring but can be overcast during the winter.
average high temperature is 64 degrees and average low is 43. the lastEl Nino was during the 1997-98
winter and before that in 1991-92 and 1982-1983

there is both a visible beach and reef break low tide occurs in mid to late morning. during the spring the wave height is about 4.5-6 feet but in the winter the average changes to 6.5-10ft
Waddell creek has a continental shelf, therefore abundant with sea stars and shallow water mammals and fish. the swells, or currents, come from the SW and the NE for best surfing conditions

coho salmon go to Waddell creek but are facing extinction. A white shark about 14-16 feet long, was recently spotted they're and attacked a man in a kayak. Also many mammals we see along the California coast visit they're such as seals and dolphins

MAVERICKS

the wind speed averages to about 6-12 mph during the winter and is usually partly cloudy

The Mavericks has an exposed reef break
Mavericks waves average at about 6.5-10.ft waves, although they are best in the Winter.
If we go on February 17 at 11:39am the tide will be high at roughly 5ft.
Mavericks has a continental shelf
The currents for the Mavericks include the local California and Davidson currents and and the global North Pacific and North Equatorial currents

Since the Mavericks are on a continental shelf, the organisms that include Lobster, Dungeness crab, tuna, cod, halibut, sole and mackerel can be found. As well as dolphins, seals, and whales as they follow migration routes.
at non-peak time: You will find a secluded stretch of beach at Pillar Point Head, hidden tide pools at low tides

SAN CLEMENTE

Mostly clear skies with calm to light/variable offshore wind

Nice beach break
morning surf conditions are usually smooth and glassy
During summer months, the area has excellent exposure to swells that come from the southerly/southwesterly direction. These swells originate either from large cyclones in the southern hemisphere or from seasonal hurricanes off the coast of Mexico. February 13 the waves will be 1-2feet high and 63 degrees
the currents are California and Davidson locally and the North Pacific and North Equatorial currents are global

Marine Mammals include seals, whales, white sharks, and sea birds.
San Clemente are home to the best tide pools in Orange County full of sea stars, sea urchins, and sea anemones

C STREET

the wind averages from about 0-10mph
the temperature averages from 66-47degrees

Has a beach break
Most of the waves that occur are waist high, good for inexperienced surfers.
if we go surfing at 6:30 am there will be low tide, so the waves will be probably unsurfable.
the currents locally are California and Davidson and globally the North Pacific and North Equatorial currents

You will see many of the same organismis as Mavericks and Waddle Creek because it too is on a continental shelf, therefore containing organisms like sea stars, sea urchins, seals, white sharks, and tuna

RINCON

74-58 degrees is the average temperature
0-14 mph is the average wind

has a fairly exposed reef break
Famous for the long-right breaking waves
the waves average from 4-6.5 ft
If we surf in March the waves will be bigger and average about 6.5-10 ft.
the currents locally are California and Davidson and globally the North Pacific and North Equatorial currents

on a continental shelf, therefore containing organisms like sea stars, sea urchins, seals, white sharks, tuna, whales, dolphins, and crab. There are amazing tide pools at very low tide to the west
