• The the first official language is Dutch, the second is Sranan, the third is Surinamese Hindi or Sarnami
• The most common religion in Suriname is Christianity, then comes Hindu and then Islam
• Surinamese food is extensive since the population of Suriname came from many countries; a few dishes are roti, nasi goreng, pom and bakmi, pom, snesi foroe, and moksi meti

• Kaseko, is a type of music with influences from Africa, Europe, and America
• Hindus practice a birth ceremony called "jatakarma".
• Women live longer than men. The life expectancy for women is 73, while for men it is 68. The life expectancy is the highest in South America
