SPEAKING IN PUBLIC, WEARING PANTS, AND VOTING

In the 1840’s - 1920’s, woman were not expected to vote, wear pants, or speak in public

Susan B Anthony was famous for doing these things. She was often mobbed and had things thrown at her,

Like eggs or rocks. She was also sent to jail in 1872 for voting, and was given a $100 fine. She gave speeches everywhere in the Nation. She presented the Declaration of Woman’s Rights at the 100 year anniversary of the U.S.A.

INTELLIGENT

SCHOOL TEACHER, AND LEADER OF THE NWSA

When Susan B. Anthony was 15, she taught other children reading and writing at her fathers Quaker school.

Later in her life she formed the NWSA (National Woman Suffrage Association) with Elizabeth Cady Stanton. She did a lot of the scheduling for events.

SHE ALSO HAD HER OWN NEWSPAPER, CALLED THE REVOLUTION. IT HELPED FIGHT FOR WOMAN’S RIGHTS.

INTERDEPENDENT

WORKING WITH AN ENTIRE NATION OF WOMAN. ONE STEP AT A TIME.

She fought for all woman’s rights, black and white. She worked together with the nation, and especially her best friend, Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
