PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
SWEAT GLANDS
The bodies means of releasing waste products such as sweat and salts.
Become active when undergoing emotional stress and high body temperature.
2.
SWEAT GLANDS
Sweating helps maintain your body temperature, hydrates the skin, and balances your body fluid.
Two types of sweat glands: Eccrine and Apocrine
Both types contain myoepithelial cells.
3.
ECCRINE GLANDS
Occur over most of your body and open directly into the skin.
When body temp. Rises your autonomic nervous system stimulates the eccrine gland.
The gland then secretes fluid onto the surface of your skin where it cools the body as it evaporates.
4.
APOCRINE GLANDS
Secrete a fatty sweat directly into the tubule of ten gland.
Apocrine glands develop in areas abundant in hair follicles.
(Scalp, armpits, and groin.)
When under emotional stress, the wall of the tubule contracts and the sweat it pushed to the surface.
