Tapeworms get their energy from their host, gaining the nutrients people/ animals get from food.
Dogs mainly get their energy from their food and water. The richer the food is, the more energy they get.

The tapeworm takes the nutrients from the host.
The host ( animal or person) gives the tapeworm the nutrients the host needs to survive.
