STORY OF TUNISIA

  • 22 year old man with college degree couldn't find a job after college, so he put up a fruit stand. But he couldn't put up a fruit stand because the government said so. He protested and set himself on fire. This was the start Arab Spring.

BASHAR AL ASSAD

  • Dictator for Syria
  • Has power because of his father
  • He doesn't allow civil freedom in his country

3 CAUSES OF SYRIAN CIVIL WAR

  • After WW1 British and French split land and put groups of people who don't like each other.
  • Assad took away the human right such as no freedom of speech, no protesting etc.
  • Sunni Muslims 14%, Alawites 16%,Christians 10%. Alawites were given favors because Assad was an Alawite.

WHO IS FIGHTING IN THE WAR

  • Assad's army
  • U.S is giving money to rebels to buy weapons.
  • Terrorists groups such as Al- Qaeda and Hezbullah and ISIS entered the area.

WHAT ROLE DOES U.S PLAY

  • America is helping the rebels fight against Assad.

WHY DOESN'T UN STEP IN?

  • Because Russia and China vetoed and are allies with Assad.

  • Russia and China are allies with Assad.

CONSEQUENCES OF WAR

320,000 DIED AND 3,000,000 REFUGEES
