Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. (Luke 12:22-23 NKJV)
I. IT IS AN INCREDIBLE CREATION OF GOD I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. (Psalms 139:14 NKJV)
II. IT IS REDEEMED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. (I Peter 1:18-19 NKJV)
III. IT IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (I Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV)
IV. IT IS A LIVING SACRIFICE TO GOD I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1 NKJV)
V. IT HONORS GOD WHEN WE CARE TO IT Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (I Corinthians 10:31 NKJV)
VI. IT IS NOT INTENDED FOR TATTOOS OR MUTILATION You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD. (Leviticus 19:28 NKJV)
Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. (I Corinthians 7:2-4 NKJV)
VIII. IT DEFILES OUR BODY THROUGH SEXUAL IMMORALITY Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. (I Corinthians 6:18 NKJV)
So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. (I Corinthians 15:42, 51-53 NKJV)
Conclusion: We do not own our body now for it was redeemed by our Lord Jesus and will be use only also for the glory of God. Our body is empowered by the Holy Spirit and had the capacity to overcome any sexual sin. Proper use and care must be done for it honors God.
