WHAT IS A MYTH?

  • A story that is not real (fiction).
  • Contains Gods, Goddesses, and mythological creatures.
  • Again, they aren't real.

WHO IS TALOS

  • Talos is an automaton created by Hephaestus.
  • Hephaestus is the God of Smithing and Metalworking.
  • An automaton is any mechanical device that moves on its own.
  • It is not a real robot!

WHAT WAS HE MADE FOR?

  • Protected a woman named Europa
  • Threw boulders at approaching ships
  • Circled Crete 3 times a day

HIS MYTH

  • Found in "Jason and the Argonauts"
  • Attacked the Argonauts as they sailed near Crete
  • They could not pass him!

HIS DEFEAT

  • Jason's Wife, Medea
  • Summoned Evil Spirits
  • Talos goes insane
  • Pulled a nail from his foot.
  • Talos bleeds out his molten blood, dies

  • Watch the scene from Jason and the Argonauts

  • Write your own robotic myth in 1 paragraph
