" Just let me go to Tangerine Middle. Do you understand? I wouldn't be water boy there. I'd be goalie. " (92)
The quote shows Paul's desire and passion towards being goalie. This shows that he doesn't want to be a water boy at his old school and wants to change schools so he could play the position he wants.

Paul's Relations with his Father
" " Maybe during football season I'm more wrapped up with Erik's doing. That's true. But the rest of the time I pay equal attention to the both of you boys " (92)

" " Football season and soccer season happen at the same time, Dad. It's ok if you don't pay attention to both. "
(92)

That quote shows that Paul's father does not pay him any attention and is mostly focused on Erik. That shows that Paul really doesn't mind that but maybe he would like the attention Erik is getting from his dad.

Paul's relationship with his brother can be described as torturous

" I couldn't stand it. I took another step forward and challenged him. " (253)

" Erik. He tried to kill me."(3)

Those 2 quotes show that Paul and Erik defiantly have some issues to work out and it shows that they argue a lot and fight a lot. It seems like they need to fix some things and don't treat each other like brothers and don't treat each other well. Also their relationship is violent.

At first Paul was scared of Erik. " Erik. He tried to kill me " (3)

" Im not afraid of you, Erik. Come on. "

Those two quotes show that at first, Paul was scared of Erik. My second quote shows his transition and shows that he's no longer afraid of him.

Paul is a very strange individual with a weird past. At the age of 5 his brother, Erik, and his brother's friend spray painted Paul in the eyes causing him to become legally blind. That caused him to live his whole life like that and for his brother to keep doing stuff to him. This called Paul to be scared of Erik. Around the age of 12, his family moved to Florida to help Erik pursue his football dream that his family is so wrapped up in. While in Texas, Paul played soccer and played goalie and was pretty good. When they moved to Florida everything went haywire. When they got down there Paul wanted to play soccer but his mom signed an IEP and he couldn't which made Paul mad. Erik got into a feud with a guy named Mike which led to the death of Mike. A

After a sinkhole which made Paul a little heroic because he saved a lot of people but Paul didn't think so, Paul went to a different school and got a good reputation, Paul got a confidence boost. At the funeral of Luis, which Arthur killed at Erik's hand, Paul's friends, Victor and Tino attacked Erik and Arthur which led to Paul standing up to Erik shortly after the funeral and finally getting the confidence he needed. After everything had happened Paul went to a new school and finally got the attention he wanted from his parents and the confidence he needed to feel good about himself.
