What is s tapeworm?
a parasitic flatworm, the adult life of which lives in the intestine of humans and other vertebrates. It has a long ribbonlike body with many segments that can become independent, and a small head bearing hooks and suckers.
Some prevention tips related to cooking and food preservation.
- cook all meat thoroughly before eating it
- never allow raw meat to come in contact with cooked meat
- wash all vegetables and fruits before consuming
- ALWAYS wash your hands before handling food
- make sure your drinking water is clean and the water you use to wash is clean
Some prevention tips related to contact with pets
-The common dog tapeworm can be controlled by eliminating fleas and lice from the environment. Dogs should be confined to prevent them from roaming and eating dead animals. Avoid feeding your dog uncooked meat and raw game.
Some prevention tips related to personal hygiene
- wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after preparing or handling any food, including raw meat or fish
before eating
after using the toilet
- also wash your hands with soap and water after close contact with farm animals or pets.

-Eggs, larvae or segments from the tapeworm in stools
