CRYSTAL 5

CHEMICALS USED: TARTARIC ACID AND SODIUM SILICATE SOLUTION

RHOMBOHEDRAL

The shape of this crystal is called Rhombohedral. According to me this crystal's shape was the best out of all of them.

THE FORMULA

The formula for this crystal shape is shown above. It is part of the lattice system.

RHOMBOHEDRAL SYSTEM

The lattice system is described by three basis vectors. In the rhombohedral system, the crystal is described by vectors of equal length. The rhombohedral system can be thought of as a cubic system which has a formula. a = b = c; α = β = γ ≠ 90°.

"Rhombohedral crystal system" is an ambiguous term that confuses the trigonal crystal system with the rhombohedral lattice system and may mean either of them.

THE CRYSAL RATE

These crystals grew at a really slow rate. They are very small but really nice if seen under a microscaope.
